T-Ball FAQ

What is the emphasis of the T-Ball League?

FUN, FUN, and more FUN! This is the beginning stage of playing baseball / softball for your little one(s) - Play Ball ! At this age the most important thing is for them to have a fun & safe experience. Our goal is to bring kids and parents together for a fun time while also learning some very basic baseball/softball fundamentals.

What is the Age for T-Ball Players and Is SBLL T-Ball Co-ed?

T-Ball is for Ages 4-6 years old, and Yes, this program is Co-ed.

What is the cost?

Registration fees are $50 ($20 with the early registration discount), and we have family rates if more than two are registered.

How often are practices and games?

Practices are generally 1x a week in the early evening. Games are 1x a week on Saturday mornings
Note: Practice day(s) of the week are dependent on field availability and coach’s preference.

How long do practices and games last?

Practices and Games are typically up to 1 hour long.

Can I make a friend/buddy or team request?

Absolutely. It is our goal to accommodate friend/team placement request as much as logistically possible. You can facilitate this request when going through the registration process.

What equipment do I need?

The league supplies each coach with helmet, bat, balls, and safety equipment. The parent must provide at a minimum a glove for their child. Many parents choose to provide their own helmet and bat due to sanitary reasons. The league tries to take all precautions with team assigned equipment, but as you can imagine it’s difficult.

I’m a parent interested in being a Manager/Coach of my child’s team. How do I volunteer?

During registration and the volunteer section please make sure to add yourself as an Assistant Coach/Head Coach so the proper background check can be initiated. Please note: All Parent Volunteers are required to submit a background check for Little League International ( LLI ). Team Managers & Coaches are required to attend the pre-season Coaches Meeting.

My child played T-Ball last year. Should they play T-Ball again this year or move up a level?

This depends on your child’s age and desired level of play. However, they have to fit the age requirements to move up.
One change currently under consideration is dependent on the number of kids that register in each age group. If we have enough kids to form the number of teams it’s possible we could create a new division in between T-Ball and Machine Pitch which will be Coach Pitch. Coach Pitch would be similar to how we had it in years past where the player gets 5 chances to hit the pitch the first half of the season. If they are not successful hitting the pitch they would hit off a tee. In the second half of the season, the tee option is removed. Machine pitch would be reserved for those kids not quite old enough or ready for Minors Player Pitch, but more competitive with the machine being placed on the pitching mound and only 5 pitches given to each hitter with no coach pitch or tee option.
